Celebrating Karl Lagerfeld

Today the fashion world farewells a great. From his iconic 36 years at Chanel, to his fabulous kitty Choupette – Karl Lagerfeld is the epitome of fashion chic.

But who is Karl Lagerfeld? How has he made such a major impact on the Fashion industry?

In addition to designing his own clothing line, he was a photographer, artist and overall a creative genius to the fashion industry.

He previously worked for various high fashion brands, such as Balmain and Chloé, was the creative director of Fendi in 1965 and most notably took over as creative director at Chanel in 1983.

He took the legendary French brand founded by Coco Chanel and turned it into an international phenomenon that became the definition of elegance, luxury and glamour.

Karl had too many iconic moments in his life to count, but when he met his kitty Choupette, he quoted he would “Marry her if it was legal” (can totally relate) and she did not leave his side from that moment on, becoming Karl’s main accessory.

Choupette now has an iPad, two personal maids, a bodyguard, her own fashion and make-up lines, and of course.. an Instagram account!

One of our personal fave moments from Karl, was when he made a statement on all price levels of fashion:

“Never use the word cheap. Today everybody can look chic in inexpensive clothes (the rich buy them too). There is good clothing design on every level today. You can be the chicest thing in the world in a T-shirt and jeans – it’s up to you.”

And that is just it! Karl encouraged fashion to not only be about appearance, but about confidence, encouraging women all over the world to love who they are, not just what they are wearing.
