Embrace the style ‘Boho Chic’ & what it means
Boho, short for “Bohemian” is more than a fashion trend, it is a term which is used to convey things which are unconventional, artistic and originally a person’s cultural identity.
For many the style of ‘Boho’ is a means of self-expression which signals to friends and the passer-by alike; who you are, your mindset, your values and the lifestyle you seek to live.
The origins of Bohemian go back as far as the 19th century, yet were popularized in Western culture during the countercultural movement of the 1960’s. They were the musicians, artists, writers, gypsies and vagabonds which became part of the zeitgeist of the 1960’s. The look of ‘Boho chic’ which we enjoy today, pay homage to some of the top highlights of the 1960’s. Such as, the edgy and spontaneous Woodstock Music Festival of 1969 in which musicians such as Janis Joplin, Joan Baes, Jimi Hendrix and Crosby Stills & Nash inspired culture, society and the fashion world.
Back in the 90s, Boho Chic was brought back to prominence with some of the most iconic fashion shows of that decade. The new look of Boho, modernized itself with more elaborate cuts and shapes, while maintaining the authenticity of colours, cultural / floral patterns and natural fabrics that instills a mood of being chilled and relaxed.
